mailbag time again
Posted by juplife on August 24, 2008
my friends have been very generous with their time and postcards recently.
the first one comes from chuck. he knew i’d miss him when he drove katie back to mississippi for school so he had random train passengers drop them at the post office for him. while they weren’t the most timely cards ever - they arrived after he returned home - they were fun to receive. and now i know that mississippi is the magnolia state. how about that.
always good with mailings, whether they be cds or picture postcards, pat sent me a much needed reminder of how cool uncle nathan is. especially when he wears a keg costume to tigers games.
i’m not sure where gramma pulled this photo of drew updike and his lackeys, but it’s one of the greats. the wonderful john drew updike is in the front shooting lasers at us while his lackeys dress up like the village people (updike always dresses that way and it’s totally straight).

gramma and the noppstar (i love postcards)
Posted by juplife on July 20, 2008
between eating pizza, watching friends, and running 5k’s, gramma green doesn’t seem to have much to do in memphis. this is good for me because i get postcards such as the above photo on a regular basis. as you can tell, gramma is still enjoying whiskey and coke flavored drinks and setting a positive example for the teenagers in memphis.
i also received a postcard from a new source this week. gym and little boy’s cousin, sarah, the one i commissioned to knit me a scarf last fall and still haven’t received, took a one week break from life to focus on her knitting. her vacation was obviously a hoax since paw paw lakes is not a real place and no mother should let her daughters out of the house in clothing like that. but i’m glad she took the time to send me a postcard while on her imaginary vacation.

the return of the kat [road trip]
Posted by juplife on May 26, 2008
i’m flying to mississippi tomorrow to drive with kt back to t-town. i love road trips so it didn’t take much convincing to get me to sign on as her co-pilot. it’ll be just a little quick trip. kt is picking me up directly from the airport in biloxi and we’re going straight to gramma’s in memphis. that should give us just enough time to do a little hanging with geege, hit up a few sonic’s, and make it back in time for the jkb softball double header wednesday evening. call us from the road to help keep us awake. i haven’t driven a stick or a vehicle as feminine as the vw bug in a while. fun fun.

A reading from the Book of Zahm
The Zahmbies prospered for years after Zahm’s creation. Torquemada kept them mindful of the traditions of their predecessors and the Zahm pride was passed down from generation to generation. Zahm Legends like Gump, Bondi, and the Johns kept the Zahm spirit alive at Notre Dame. Each year, six-man after six-man held tremendous events called dingers where Beans danced on radiators and Sheva tended bar. But something was not right in Zahm Hall. For years, Zahmbies had lived under this name. Until one fateful night in the Spring of ‘03. When the members of the 3Booyah sixman ran into and unexpected visitor to Zahm in the night. Despite her inebriation, she managed to utter the question, “Where is the Zahm House?” From that moment on, the Zahm House stood tall on North Quad. The House was the perfect name for the Zahmbies’ domain. And the House would thrive as more Zahmbies Yucca’d their way to Reslife and Terrence the Tree continued to get lit. But the House was unofficial. But that time is over. The Zahmbies have united and risen up. Together they stand for all that is good and true: maddogs, moose, and the roni za. March 29 will forever be remembered as Zahm House Independence Day. HOUSE!

remember that time pants cooked the food you like, hosted the tailgate, let you stay over night, visited you too often at school, learned how to text, took you to practice, made you feel uncomfortable when asking you about a gf or bf, cried when you left home, loved you more than should be possible. you probably do. cause it happens everyday.
