dr participated in another tri this weekend. he made the trip to milwaukee for the racine half ironman. what is worthy to note is that dr qualified for a national tri with his time at his last tri and that the water in milwaukee apparently causes hypothermia. this means two things, 1) that he competes in triathlons for time; not completion, and 2) he might need to think about investing in a wetsuit for the swimming portion next time.
it follows that dr only wore his stinker suit. the rest of the field found this to be very odd as he was the only one around not wearing a wetsuit due to the extreme water conditions. the crowd was very amused by this and many of them struck up conversations with him asking about his costume choices and photo ops. with this kind of dedication, dr should certainly be sponsored by the stinker suit company.
fortunately for the rest of us who don’t quite understand the novelty of his decision, there is the beauty of the internet and photo sites such as flickr. a quick search confirmed his story that everyone at the tri truly did believe dr to be a little crazy. or as rabkaman says, a ‘nut case’. the photo above was taken from his photo stream.
unfortunately for dr, a slight case of the purple face sunk in (see: hypothermia) and his tire popped three miles into his bike. dr, striving for his best time, opted not to complete the race after the tire malfunction. hopefully this prepares him the austin half and his quest to finally top pat in the standings.
edit: the stinker suit is a splish brand brief. they should still totally sponsor our kid and give him his own custom suit.
remember that time pants cooked the food you like, hosted the tailgate, let you stay over night, visited you too often at school, learned how to text, took you to practice, made you feel uncomfortable when asking you about a gf or bf, cried when you left home, loved you more than should be possible. you probably do. cause it happens everyday.
