god it was a good time. i can’t believe it’s over. makes me want to take another soon, pretty bad. the recap post didn’t really do justice to the whole trip. i’m going to give some more details about the trip now which will hopefully give you a better idea about what made it fun and help us remember more completely.
dr made a 15 hour soundtrack for the trip. we took kt’s itrip for the ride. he only repeated a few songs. it was classic, but i do miss the normal 1 or 2 cds heard over and over. while there isn’t a large group of songs that will forever symbolize this trip, there are a couple. most of the songs that stick with me are songs that i don’t normally listen to that dr hears regularly in college. some notably ones are, ‘drink and my two step’ by cassidy, ‘big shit poppin’ by ti, ‘kiss kiss’ by chris brown. all classics.
dr and i were slobs the entire trip. i can just feel us getting fatter. it wouldn’t surprise me if i gained ten pounds since before christmas. the new orleans diet was more than worth it though. camellia grill is so good. it’s a great little greasy diner. the most amazing thing on the menu was the pecan pie. we didn’t order it but quite a few other people did while we were there. preparation of the pecan pie, which is probably the most unhealthy pie to begin with, involves throwing it on the skillet. when it is turned upright, they soak it in butter. this menu item is leading the league in clogged arteries.
dr actually picked up the driving slack on this trip. i started out by driving straight through nashville. dr then took us nearly the rest of the way and was responsible for half of the drive home. we were delirious when we first drove into new orleans. driving through the night is hard when the total time hits 15 hours. we had plenty of monsters, sunflowers seeds, d30s, and even tested the 5 hour energy drinks (dr loved, didn’t work for me).

sarah florian is dawn petersen.
there were seriously times, during the drive and not, where i couldn’t form sentences. it provided good laughs though. especially after heading to bourbon street after only 3 hours of sleep in over 36 hours. that same night, i also sprained my ankle on the curb. this is amazing because i was wearing hi-top chuck taylors. with all of those laces they’re practically ankle braces.
on that first night, for some reason, the dude’s bathrooms were more crowded than the chicks. when we stopped at krystals, a white castle-type burger place, for food at the end of the night, fish got kicked out for using the chick’s bathroom when there was no one in it. good thing we had eaten already and on our way home. fish was the best host. he had two blow-up, or aero as he called them, mattresses ready to go for us when we arrived. they were amazingly comfortable. especially stacked two high.

fish had some great friends. most of them were lsu fans. we actually watched the game with them. the photos and videos from that night are pretty amazing. two of his friends stuck out. don doesn’t like lsu because of all of the obnoxious fans he grew up around. he went so far as to buy a shirt from me and wore it out at least two nights. his second buddy, litch, is something of a legend. fish and his buddies told so many good stories about him. dr and him became fast friends. amazingly, he’s a law student.
on the drive to new orleans and back, dr and i sought out several places to eat. we came short of both of our main targets, chipotle and panera (we had gift cards!). when those didn’t work out we came across a billboard for kfc buffet. sadly, it was only a myth. on the ride home we finally found a coach bragg recommended restaurant, sonic. it was delish.

one of the best cameos of the weekend was doug logsdon. he surprised us saturday night at the dungeon. by monday night he had officially created a new fad which we have dubbed ‘the logsdon’. this came about while we were walking down bourbon st and doug asked to take a picture next to all of the trash bags stacked up. he did this probably five other times throughout the weekend. dr and i carried this through the weekend by ‘logsdoning’ everything at thunders.

the people in the city of pascagoula were as great as kt told us. two of them actually bought shirts from me. and they have no business buying shirts. i really hope to visit again.
i’m sure i left some good points out. but this is long. dr can update from the comments.
remember that time pants cooked the food you like, hosted the tailgate, let you stay over night, visited you too often at school, learned how to text, took you to practice, made you feel uncomfortable when asking you about a gf or bf, cried when you left home, loved you more than should be possible. you probably do. cause it happens everyday.
