Thanksgiving definitely won this year. And so did everyone in Los Angeles.
It began peacefully enough. On Tuesday I took a mini vacay to Rancho Cucamonga to visit Nate. It was exciting let me tell you. Uncle Nathan and I enjoyed a few home brews, watched a couple movies and worked on a puzzle. We’re quite the old married couple.
On Wednesday I returned to Pat’s and joined the rest of the Amato siblings. We met John’s cousin and Pat’s main squeeze the D.R.E., and did a lot of relaxing and hanging out. Things picked up quickly though when I took Nate to the airport and Skeets, DR, and KT took off for the big show: K-Fed at the House of Blues. Boy did I miss out. Britney sure was a lucky chick.
Thanksgiving dinner was hosted on Thursday at Uncle Kelly and Aunt Nancy’s. Like two years ago it was delish. We had two turkeys – one deep fried, one norma
l. Someday soon I’m going to buy a deep fryer and have Turkey Tuesdays. It’ll be held every Monday in conjunction with Taco Tuesdays. Mark will be there too.
The festivities really kicked off Friday as everyone was now in town. But first I had to attend the ND/USC Luncheon – for business reasons of course. Luckily for me, or so I thought at the time, TJ and the Moose were going and they could take me along. The luncheon was a good time and I met up with Dick and Sharon there. Being the great people they are, they invited TJ and the Moose for drinks afterward. Although I told them not to feel obligated to join since I was meeting them later for dinner, they decided it was a good idea.
Drinks were held down the street at the Jonathan Club. TJ and the Moose really let their hair
down and ordered a water and a coke. Our other guests left after an hour or so, but TJ and the Moose persisted and managed to stay long enough to get an invite for dinner.
Dinner was at Dick’s fancy restaurant: Nic’s. True to form for TJ and the Moose, they went to a complimentary dinner at a Martini Lounge. So Dick, Sharon and I reminisced on how much we miss Paris and the good times when they would take care of me. While waiting for dinner to be served, TJ dressed up like a diva in the VodBox. The food was delish, the drinks were good, and the company was interesting to say the least.
The big event was Saturday. By the big event, I mean the tailgate before the game. The hype for tailgate was huge and I think I’m being modest when I say that it exceeded all expectations.
The Marion St. guys met Pat and DR at the Shrine on Friday and parked their RV next to our U-Haul to expand our tailgating area. Even with the extra space, the tailgate sold out. Pat was the king of the tailgate and managed it like a pro.
When all was said and done too many amazing things occurred to document them all. So here is abridged version:

The Amato’s take a ridiculous amount of pictures
Smeagol is my hero
Mark came through with the Pontiac Game Changing Performance of the Year when he returned with more kegs

There are no good seats at the Coliseum

…and only they can prevent forest fires

DR took the mohawk trend to a whole new level

We don’t need no stinkin‘ cabs

The best way to extend the life of a keg is to make everyone do keg stands

hopefully one of these days I’ll learn how to make 6 pies and not burn 3 of them

Teapot, Jason, and Gramma are champion layers and crankers
After such and amazing time, we are planning on making this an annual event. So get ready for UCLA in ’07.

remember that time pants cooked the food you like, hosted the tailgate, let you stay over night, visited you too often at school, learned how to text, took you to practice, made you feel uncomfortable when asking you about a gf or bf, cried when you left home, loved you more than should be possible. you probably do. cause it happens everyday.
